This is Year 6’s final ½ term at Swarcliffe Primary School! After an extremely hard Summer Term 1, our class now have the luxury of celebrating the final few weeks at school in style. The prom will be held on 19th July 2012 and we are all looking forward to this spectacular event. They have all worked so hard and truly deserve it. The theme for the prom has not yet been decided, any suggestions, please let us know.
On the 20th July we will be holding our end of year leavers’ assembly. This could be a rather emotional day!
On Wednesday 18th April the whole school travelled back in time to visit Beamish (a town set in 1913). Everything, even the streets, shops, schools and banks are exactly how they were all those years ago.
It was extremely interesting to have first hand experience of what life was like back then. See the pictures below to show you just exactly what it was like.
Look out for some of our pieces of writing which we created related to our exciting journey back in time!!!
SATs week begins on Monday 14th May and all of Year 6 are more than ready for this extremely important week. During this week a breakfast of fresh fruit, croissants and fruit juice will be provided for all pupils in Mrs Rothwell’s class.
Welcome back to Spring 2 Year 6
This ½ term we have many things to look forward to. On Monday 27th February we are lucky enough to visit a Buddhist centre called Madhyamaka Buddhist Centre. This Meditation Centre is internationally known. They welcome everyone to come and enjoy this very special place where we can learn and see Buddhism being put into practice in modern times. During your first week back in school you will be given all of the information so that you are ready for this trip.
We will start the ½ term focusing on one particular book which will presented to us during our first day back after the holiday. All of our learning for the ½ term will be based around this book so that we can develop our Numeracy, Literacy, Science, Enterprise, Art, Music, Technology (cooking) and Geography skills. Be prepared to try new food Year 6! What do you think the book will be?
We will keep you up to date with other information for this ½ term over the next 6 weeks.
Please remember this is a very important term for our SATs so it is important that homework and booster work is ALWAYS completed!
Welcome back to the start of our new spring term. It has been another excellent start as all children in year 6 have had AMAZING behaviour since we have been back. This is an expectation I am sure you will continue to meet!
During a rather interesting assembly on 9th January we were thrown into the start of our new and exciting topic ‘Bang goes the theory.’ Each teacher took the time to demonstrate an unusual experiment which they thought would capture the schools imagination and attention. Mrs Rothwell’s certainly did!
Over the next few weeks we will continue to develop our understanding of Science so that we can explain many more marvellous investigations which parents will have the opportunity to see during our focus Friday. We look forward to seeing you there!
Half Term is nearly here!
