Children's Mental Health Week 2022

This year's Children's Mental Health Week had a theme of 'Growing Together'.

The children completed a number of lessons and activities based around a phase text and completed lots of amazing work following discussions about the issues raised.

Once again, we felt that the children fully embraced this opportunity to discuss how day to day life and the current world events are affecting their mental health and wellbeing.

"My Big Shouting Day" by Rebecca Patterson

"The Koala Who Could" by Rachel Bright

"Seeds and Trees" by Brandon Walden

"Sadsville" by Martin Roberts

Our wonderful Nursery children and Reception children looked at the book "My Big Shouting Day" by Rebecca Patterson. This story follows Bella, a little girl who is having a bad day. With the help of her mum she realises that everyone has bad days from time to time, and helps children find helpful ways of dealing with their feelings.

As part of their learning, the Nursery

children used puppets to help explain how they were feeling.

Phase 1/2 took inspiration from the fabulous book "The Koala Who Could" by Rachel Bright. In the story, Kevin the Koala has to learn to deal with a big change in his life when the tree where he lives falls down. He thinks that he isn't going to be able to cope, but with a little encouragement, discovers that he is more resilient than he thinks and has lots of positives in his life. The children explored the positives in their lives, focusing on what they feel they are good at and created some lovely artwork to go with their ideas.
