Wow!!! What a start to our new half term already!
Year 4 had a brilliant time in a superb Olympic True or False Quiz assembly. We went in armed with our red and green cards to show our answers clearly with most children achieving an excellent score. It was then revealed that we have an Olympic Medallist within our staff team... a surprise we were not expecting!
We worked our brains really hard to guess from 4 members of staff that presented themselves to the school. It turned out to be Mrs Boak in Year 1 who is an Olympic Gold Medallist for Clay Pigeon Shooting after the Sydney Olympics.
Aren’t we lucky to have this amazing learning experience and athlete in our school! Through-out the term we will be exploring the history of the Olympic games and designing our own Olympic sport for others to try as well as a class flag and much much more! Mrs Clarkson and Miss Taylor are bubbling with excitement!!
Please keep an eye on our class page to see updates of our work and learning adventures in school this half term!
Well what a fantastic time travelling experience! It was a fabulous day filled with magical learning from first hand experiences. This really has brought everything to life for our Year 4 class so get ready for some superb work!
Thank you for such excellent behaviour and manners Year 4 you made Miss Taylor, Mrs Clarkson, Mrs Chapman, Mrs Fenton and Mrs Sanderson extremely proud. please explore some photo's from our day.
After Mr Jach and Miss Taylor's time travelling escapade at the end of last half term the children now get to have a go at their own time travelling adventure. To start off our new topic focus we will be going on a trip to Beamish open air Museum to explore life during 1913. Don’t worry parents we’ll ensure they time travel back for you by the end of the day!!
We will be getting the camera’s out for photo’s and video productions and investigating software to produce our own documentaries! We’ll be acting experts while developing our ICT knowledge and understanding!
I am really looking forward to this half term and know the children in Year 4 will continue with their active enthusiasm towards their learning and remember keep our attendance up, we’ve won the attendance once and should be planning our reward trip soon but we can do it again!!!!
Once upon a time there was a mysterious package delivered to Swarcliffe Primary School. It’s rancid smell and dusty exterior drew Mrs Sanderson’s attention. Carefully, she peeled away the crinkled brown paper to reveal 8 packages labelled for each class in this community based school. In the assembly hall with children sat in rows and sun streaking across the polished wooden floor she distributed the parcels......... and the rest they say is ..... OUR TOPIC!
This half term we will be exploring texts from other cultures through stories found in our story book. As a class we will create a story sack containing props that will help children learn in future years and have also helped our learning. We shall investigate fiction and non fiction writing including Magazines and Newspaper articles as well as using ICT to video and photograph our progress.
In Numeracy, we will be looking at area and perimeter of different shapes as well as measuring and weighing out different amounts creating food from our focus region – Get those taste buds ready!
Happy New Year and good fortunes to everyone in Year 4!
After what sounds like a fun packed holiday with lots of excitement we are back in school –where the excitement will definitely be continuing!
This half term we will be exploring explanation texts in Literacy, building lots of reasoning vocabulary to support our work. In Numeracy we will handling data with graph reading and co-ordinates where finding the correct information is key. Across topic we will be investigating and experimenting surrounding some wacky science really enjoying our learning and searching for answers to our ideas and thoughts.
Get your white coats out for lots of science! WHOO! Miss Taylor and Mrs Clarkson are striving to dive in to our new half term and know Year 4 will demonstrate their love for learning shown throughout the year so far!
Let's hope the snow holds off!
Wow we made it to the end of the first half term!
Well, what a busy half term, not only have we had sports day we’ve also had a fabulous visit from the Story Lady where we heard some magical tales. This gave us our incentive for our topic work this half term. After Kit, Miss Taylor’s pet poltergeist, left us our own suitcase we have learnt all about Sir Francis Drake and the Spanish Armada, creating a brilliant drama using the super suitcase….
We have learnt so much historical knowledge this half term as well as some excellent development of our Literacy and Numeracy skills. What a fabulous start to Year 4! Miss Taylor is extremely proud of all the class and knows this effort will continue all year!
