Welcome back to the last half term!
For our last topic in Reception we are going to be learning all about different jungle animals and their habitat. We will be reading lots of different non-ficiton and fiction books like, ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ and ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’. We will be having a special visitor who will come into school and take us on a jungle themed adventure. Keep an eye out on our class page for photos of our learning.
What do our bodies need to grow?
Welcome back to the Summer term. We hope that you have had
a relaxing Easter break. This half term our learning will be based around the question, 'What do our bodies need to grow?'. We will be learning about different ways to keep our bodies healthy. As part of being healthy we will be starting to brush our teeth every day after lunch. We will be having a visit from Ian's Mobile Farm, as well as visiting Cannon Hall Farm. We will also be having an exciting visit from The Dog's Trust.
Well done to Ladybirds who won the Foundation Stage group in 'The Swarcliffe Sing Off'.
Welcome back to the new half term.
Over the next 6 weeks our learning will be based around Traditional Tales. We will be visited by The Rainbow Factory who will be performing "Topsy Turvy Storybook Kingdom". We will be planting magic beans, learning actions to help us retell and rewrite our favourite Fairy Stories and much, much more.
We have had a very special delivery this week...we are really excited about what we think is about to happen.
We made predictions and observed what happened when we put gingerbread men in water, oil, milk and vinegar.
Here we are helping The Storyteller, from The Rainbow Factory, cast a magic spell to fix the stories that were muddled up.
Kyla, Konrad and Deacon helped The Storyteller retell Little Red Riding Hood.
We acted out Little Red Riding Hood.
Whilst exploring and role playing in the castle we used vocabulary such as fort, drawbridge, rescue, escape and knights.
We have been learning how to use oil pastels and our fingers to create a smudged effect to create characters from The Three Bears.
Happy New Year and welcome back to Spring 1. This half term our learning with be based around the question, 'What does it take to be a superhero?'. We will be reading lots of books about different Superheros (our favourite so far is Supertato, by Sue Hendra). We will be finding out about our Swarcliffe Super Heroes who help us to understand the skills we need to learn as well as looking at everyday superheroes where we live.
Making 'Super Veggies'.
Some of our traps to catch The Evil Pea! The children used Ipads to take their own photos.
We wrote letters to Supertato to tell him that we had found The Evil Pea. Here we are posting them in the post box. We found it on Google Earth before we left school and talked about how to safely cross the road.
Writing speech bubbles for what we would say to The Evil Pea.
Why do we celebrate?
Welcome back to Reception. We hope you have had a relaxing break because this half term is going to be a busy one! The learning in Reception this half term is going to be based around celebrations. We will be having a bonfire party, celebrating Larry and Benjy's birthday, organising a wedding and of course getting ready for our Nativity performance.
