Welcome back to the last half term of Reception. This year has really flown by! This half term our learning will be based around holidays and transport. We have also asked the children what they would like to learn about so we will be including their ideas into our learning.
Here are some of the events that are coming up over the next few weeks.
Monday 3rd July: Reception Class Assembly 9:10am.
Tuesday 4th July: Woodland Adventure Company

After hearing about what the children have been doing this morning during circle time, it sounds like you all had a super exciting holiday!
This half term our topic is ‘On The Farm’ and we have so much to learn about. We will be going on our first ever school trip to Hesketh Farm Park, which will be extremely fun. The trip is during the school day on Wednesday 3rd and we will be feeding farm animals, collecting eggs and maybe having the chance to go on a tractor ride! Keep an eye out for a trip photographs.
We will continue to develop all areas of our learning throughout our provision and focused tasks. Over the weeks we will add photos of our learning about farms.

We have been learning about 3D shapes. We have learnt a fun 3D shape song to help us remember the properties. Click here to watch it.

Welcome back to school. We hope you had lots of fun during the holiday!
This half term our topic is called ‘Patterns and Change’. We will be reading, ‘The Enormous Turnip’, ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ and lots of information books about planting and growing. As we are nearly in Spring, we will be looking at the changes that happen in our environment.
Keep an eye out on our class page as we will be having a few special guests in the next couple weeks!
Here we are at the Easter Bonnet Assembly. Well done to everyone who made a bonnet - they all looked fantastic!
We have had some special additions to our class this week...
Boffin Harry came to show us some exciting experiments. We made elephant toothpaste!
We been investigating pattern in different ways.
We have planted our own beans...we hope that they grow into beanstalks like Jack's.
We had a visit from Ann, a road safety officer. She talked to us about how to keep safe near the roads.
Happy New Year and welcome back to school. We hope you have had a good rest over the Christmas holiday.
This half term our learning will be based around Monsters and Aliens! We will be reading lots of exciting stories such as, 'Aliens in Underpants','Here Come the Aliens', 'Welcome to Alien School' and 'Whatever Next'.
We have been investigating capacity with moon rocks and space cups.
We have made slime aliens!
We have been doubling with Dobby. Do you know what double 3 is?
We have been exploring our new playground. It is so much fun!
In Maths we have also been investigating capacity by filling cups with our special ‘Moon Rock Juice’.
This half term we are learning all about homes. We will be investigating different types of homes from around the world and looking at the key features of a house and the materials they are made of.
Week ending 4th November 2016 - Halloween and Bonfire night.
We went on a walk around our school grounds and collected sticks. We then made our own bonfire, watched fireworks and ate marshmallows.
We made repeating patterns using pictures of blue, yellow, green and orange fireworks.

We listened to a story teller, who told the story of the ‘The BFG’. It was amazing!
In maths this week we started to find out 1 more from a group of objects up to 10. We worked out that one more than 5 is 6.
On Friday we used skittles and water for our science experiment Look at what happens when you put water on skittles! We created lots of different patterns.
